Taking in the Wild – A journey of Co-Becoming

The berry held in my fingertips, rested on my upper lip.

My nostrils flared and I fully inhaled her.

Tiny fruity particles floated deeply inward on each breath.

It was intoxicating, with all my senses rising to the fore.

The first lick was long and slow.

Divinely intentional, I tasted her flavour.

My pulse quickened, my mouth salivated.

Feeling each crevice and crease, my tongue explored.

Curious, willing, longing.

Bursts of liquid pure on my tongue as I bit deeply into her flesh.

The wetness of my palette mixed with her juice.

I rolled her over my gums and drank her elixir in.

Divinely simple, yet exquisitely delight-full.

Drifting away, far away from the everyday, together we entered the sublime.

It’s slow there. Subtle and tenderising.

Slippery slopes we broke down into minute molecules.

Granular we became.

Tiny and complete bursts of life exploding.  A symphony within.

We went down, deeper, further, unfolding into each other.

We flowed and let go as we travelled through the hollows.

Into the dark places, I breathed slowly.

Into the void. The unknown and unseen.

I swallowed down the mystery as I felt the thrill of dissolving together.

Into each other, our layers shed, juices merging.

We opened, released, and melded into One.

We were the alchemy. Agents of change.

Liberating our goodness.

Embodying the truth of our co-becoming.

Whole, in the melting of our parts.

You, dear berry, were the promise that was once a whisper on my lips.

This was a recent experience I had with an actual strawberry.  Honestly that is true.  As you can see, this was no ordinary snack, but rather a deep and wonderous practice of co-becoming with another living being.

This beautiful practice was taught to me by Dr. Maya Ward and weaves together embodiment, trance, and deep listening into a “lively co-creative communing” with the more than human world.  The practice was shared with Maya by the Gay’wu group of women from Arnhem Land and she teaches it now with their permission.  Its expression is through writing and shared in community.   To me this is an erotic practice.   It allows us to connect deeply with our life force energy and merge with other living beings.   It maybe the wind, land or sky.  It may be food or trees.   It really doesn’t matter.   This practice also shows a way to deeply co-become with other humans in exploration and embodied pleasure.
